Commissioning of Seconded Personnel for the 2023 Pacific Games

The commissioning program of total of 122 seconded staff from the Solomon Islands Government took place at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports (SINIS) in Honiara today.

Stakeholders of the Programme the Secretary to Prime Minister and Chair of National Hosting Authority, Dr. Jimmy Rodgers gave the Grand Speech. Whilst Permanent Secretary Public Service
Mr. Luke Checka and Secretary to Cabinet PMC, Mr. Nego Sisiolo, made formal speeches. CEO of the Games Organising Committee, Peter Stewart, and President for Full Gospel Association (SIFGA) Pastor Ellison Bako also officiated at the ceremony.

Mr. Luke Checka congratulated the secondees, highlighting their fortunate selection from thousands of public servants.

“to all seconded staff let me say you are very fortunate from the thousands of public servants. You are the chosen few who were accepted to work with the Pacific Games as part of the Government’s contribution for the Games this year”

Three representatives from the Public Service, State Owned Enterprises and Teachers who are seconded to GOC, collectively responded that they were grateful for the opportunity to give back to the Nation and are looking forward to the various capacities they will be deployed into.

The program concluded with a commission prayer led by Pastor Ellison Bako. The seconded staff consists of teachers, state-owned enterprise employees, and government public servants. They will officially begin their duties with the Games organizing committee on July 24th, 2023, working in various functional areas.

Next week, the GOC will conduct interviews with the seconded staff, followed by an induction on Friday before the start of their duties. The briefing and commissioning program were organized by the Government Service Integrated Committee (GSIC). The seconded staff will be deployed for six months until December 2023.
