The Games Organizing Committee (GOC) signed the Venue Use Agreement with the Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) today afternoon (12/09/2023) for the use of Maranatha Hall as a game’s venue for the upcoming SOL2023 Pacific Games.

Maranatha will host bodybuilding, power lifting, and weight lifting. Also, the field will be used as a parking lot for athletes, officials, and public vehicles, as it is within walking distance of the Sports City.

GOC Chief Executive Officer Peter Stewart, during the short signing ceremony, thanked the church for allowing their land and facilities to be used as a venue for the upcoming SOL 2023 Pacific Games.

He said Maranatha Hall has been in their discussions for the past few months and is pleased to see it being successful in the negotiation stage.

President of SIM, Pastor David Filo, said they are happy to be part of the big event and will render support to GOC in preparing the venue for the games.

Venue Operations Manager, Pongi Tangia, said the signing marks the end of negotiations and finalizes the agreement on the full Maranatha-fenced area.

The bump-in period will be from October 1–14, where our team will shift all heavy equipment to the site with support from technical people and games cluster groups to do final set-up or repurposing of the hall and outside field.”

The adjacent plot next to Burns Creek School will also be used during the games to host the field hospital.

The signing today was witnessed by representatives from the National Hosting Authority, SIM officials, the Government Services Integration Committee (GSIC), and GOC staff.
