Sol2023, exactly two months out

Today (19th September, 2023) marks a significant milestone for Solomon Islands as together we stand two months out from the historical 2023 Pacific Games (Sol2023) here in Honiara.

At exactly 7:00pm, on 19th November, 2023 (two months from today), Solomon Islands will welcome more than 5000 athletes and officials from the 24 Pacific Island countries and territories at the Opening of the historical Sol2023 Pacific Games.

The much-anticipated sporting event has garnered excitement and anticipation amongst Solomon Islanders both within Honiara, the provinces and internationally.

With 61 days to go, preparations have intensified and remain on track.

“We are only two months out, we are racing against time, however all our preparations are well on track as planned.

“We are confident of hosting and delivering a memorable Games for the Pacific and for Solomon Islands,” she said.

Meanwhile with two months left, Solomon Islands is now feeling the hyper and excitement leading into the Games with the Games Baton Relay now completing four of the nine provinces it ought to travel before the start of the Games.

“The Baton has thus far completed Isabel, Central Islands, Temotu and Choiseul provinces. It will continue its journey throughout all the provinces these two remaining months before returning to Honiara on November 19th for the Games Opening Ceremony,” Ezmie said.
