Pacific Games Park and Ride – Your Traffic-Free Ride

The Games organising committee (GOC) Transportation Department to Announce Park and Ride Shuttle System for Sol2023 Pacific Games.

The park and ride system lets the public park their vehicle in specific spots and then use shuttle buses to get to the Games’ competition venues they want to go to.

This will help a lot in reducing traffic jams and congestion during the Sol2023 Pacific Games.

GOC Transport Coordinator James Talotuita said ,“We will continue to keep the public informed about these developments as it’s a new concept for the people of the Solomon Islands. Additionally, our team will issue Vehicle Access Parking (VAP) permits to authorize vehicles for access to Games venues, but this will be limited to certain vehicles. All other public vehicles will need to use designated parking areas outside the competition venues.“

Before the park and ride idea, the GOC Transport Department had the Expression of Interest (EOI) period as the first phase.

Right now, the Transportation team is checking vehicles at the National Sport City. They started this inspection on Monday, the 18th, and will keep doing it until next week. After they finish, they’ll sign contracts.
