Sol2023 Ambassador- Primo Higa

Higa, GOC team on tour in Makira

Sol2023 Pacific Games Ambassador, Primo Higa and a team from the Games Organizing Committee have today landed in Kirakira – kick starting its tour of Makira province.

Part of the Games Community Engagement program, the six-day tour will cover communities, schools and villages starting in Santa Ana and concluding in Kirakira.

GOC’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Jacqueline Maeli said, “The program is aimed at informing and education communities about the Games, raising awareness about sports and its benefits in communities and encouraging young people to take part and be part of sports.

“It is also aimed at showing young people the sporting pathways from the villages to the grandest international stages such as the Pacific Games,” Maeli said.

Games Ambassador, Primo said that the opportunity to partner with the Games as an Ambassador is an achievement in itself for him and his people.

“Being part of the Sol2023 PG Ambassadors is an opportunity that doesn’t come by often. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“To be recognized by the Games and to be able to share my experiences to my people through this program is an achievement not only on my part but that of my people, my province as well.

“Athletics is one of the most popular sports in Makira, and to be able to bring GOC with me to share awareness to the people here will surely help build and motivated them, especially our young people and aspiring athletes here in the villages, schools and communities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Primo and the team are expected back in the national capital on the 18th of this month (May).
