New SIFF Academy Ready to Host

History will be made on Friday afternoon at SIFF Academy in Honiara when Cook Islands and New Caledonia’s women’s football teams kick off the action at the newly built Sol2023 Pacific Games precinct.

It will be the first day of sport at the new SIFF Academy venue cluster, which will play host to football (starting on Friday 17 November), judo (20-21 November), karate (23-24 November) and beach volleyball (28 November to 2 December).

The new SIFF Academy consists of two football pitches that will play host to a total of 20 matches across both the men’s and women’s football competitions, with 16 other football matches to be played at Lawson Tama and the finals at the National Stadium.

The new SIFF Academy beach soccer pitch will host the Sol2023 beach volleyball competition, while karate and judo events will be contested at the new futsal court.

The SIFF precinct was co-funded by the Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Japanese Governments and also includes an office building and a dormitory, providing valuable new facilities for post-Games use.
