CIP Games Ambassador returns from week-long tour

The Sol2023 Pacific Games Ambassadors program last week completed its week-long of Gela and Savo islands in the beautiful Central Islands Province (CIP), Solomon Islands.

Former national footballer and coach, Timothy Inifiri was the Games Ambassador on tour in Central Islands.

“It was real good having the opportunity to go back to where I started my football carrier literally took off. I nurtured and developed my football knowledge and experience right here in Tulagi – the provincial capital.

“Having the chance to come back as a Games Ambassador and help inform, advocate, educate and share my footballing experiences to today’s generation is indeed an honor for me,” Timothy said.

A total of seven villages, schools, communities and islands were visited and had awareness programs delivered there. Areas visited include; Tulagi, McMahon School,Hagalu School,Halavo School,Taroniara School, Siota Provincial Secondary School, Boromole School, Savo island,Paibeta School, Kalaka School,

“As we all know, football (soccer) is the national sports in Solomon Islands – anything that involves football will attract huge followings and keen listeners. That is exactly the reaction we received in almost all the areas we visited,” Timothy said.

The former footballing ace meanwhile thanked GOC for the opportunity to be engaged and involved in preparing Solomon Islands for this year’s Sol2023 Pacific Games.

Meanwhile the program will head next to Rennell and Bellona province this week.
