Don Bosco Games Village handover tomorrow

The renovated Don Bosco Technical Institute classrooms that will accommodate athletes during the 2023 Pacific Games are set for official handover, Friday 8th September, 2023.

The renovation was funded by Australian Aid as part of their $100 million contribution to support the Pacific Games.

Games Organizing Committee Village Service Manager Joseph Iniga said there were two classroom buildings that were renovated at Don Bosco.

“After the handover, our team will work on repurposing the classrooms into an accommodation-style block.

“We will fit in furniture, bedding materials, and all necessary kits,” Mr. Iniga said.

Key guest speakers for the handing over tomorrow are Hon. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and the Australian High Commission to Solomon Islands, H.E. Mr. Rod Hilton, followed by the handing over of keys and unveiling of the plaque.

Other Games Villages that were renovated with Australian funding support to accommodate the 24 competing countries are King George Sixth School, St. Nicholas School, Solomon Islands National University, and St. Joseph Tenaru.
