The Papua New Guinea (PNG) women’s golf team remained at the top of the leaderboard after Friday’s penultimate day of play at the Sol2023 Pacific Games at Honiara Golf Course.

They lead with 705 points, ahead of second-placed New Caledonia (708 points) and third-placed Samoa (714 points).

PNG have scored consistently throughout the event; 236 on Wednesday, 233 on Thursday and 236 on Friday. Saturday is the final day of play.

PNG’s team captain and gold medallist from the Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games, Kristine Seko, told the Pacific Games News Service: “We’re playing really well, the girls and myself, we got some good scores in the last two days.

“Thus our game plan for tomorrow is just to maintain and improve on scores from today.

“It’s something we look forward to, and hope to do our country proud,” she added.

Golf resumes at 7am on Saturday. Entry is free.
