NOV 19 is 1-Year-To-Go

The National Capital – Honiara will this weekend commemorate One-Year-To-Go before the start of the Sol2023 Pacific Games (next year), with a public event set for Saturday 19th of November 2022.

GOC Marketing and Communications Manager, Laurel Tasa says the aim of this event is to celebrate the important milestones Solomon Islands has achieved since winning the bid to host the 17th Pacific Games here in Honiara.

She says that this event is also important and special as it will give the public the chance to engage and interact with Solo the Mascot, GOC Staff and also to be informed and educated about next year’s historical Sol2023 Pacific Games.

The One-Year-To-Go event on 19th November, 2022 will start with a float parade from Whiteriver market to the SINIS (Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports) complex starting at 9am, followed by the official program at SINIS starting 11am.

Whilst encouraging the public to be part of this event, Ms. Tasa said that the event will also be broadcasted live on SIBC and also live streamed on the Sol2023 Facebook Page targeting both local and international viewing audiences.

Meanwhile the One-year-to-go event will also coincide with the Games Chef de Mission (CDM) meeting which will take place from the 18th to 21st November, 2022.
