AJ City Mall at Lunga, east of Honiara will be the home of the 2023 Pacific Games Organizing Committee (GOC) Workforce Centre.

This was confirmed following the signing of a lease agreement between GOC and AJ Mall on the 13th of this month (January), 2023.

The agreement will enable the GOC’s Workforce team to occupy one of the biggest spaces at the mall’s fourth floor.

“The location of the Workforce Centre was strategically planned to be around the east side of Honiara – closer to our major games venues and games village for operating pre-games and during games time – the location is a bonus for us,” GOC’s Manager Workforce and Volunteer, Reenah Numaralai said.

She said that the Workforce Centre should commence operations early this year when volunteer recruitment begins, whereby a total of 2500 plus volunteers will be needed for the 2023 Pacific Games.

Reenah added that the Centre will be turned into a Uniform and Distribution Centre that will also serve as the Accreditation Centre come this year’s Games.

Meanwhile the GOC Workforce Centre will open its doors to the public early next month (February) with recruitment of volunteers expected to be rolled out in April.
