A total of 175 Volunteer Team Leaders have signed up and started series trainings with the Games Organizing Committee (GOC) in preparations for the Sol2023 Pacific Games in Honiara this year.
These trainings include: Fire Evacuation / Emergency training, Basic First Aid Skills training, OH&S Risk Mitigation and Response training, Leadership / Management Upskilling training, Pacific Games Overview training and Games Specific trainings.
GOC’s Workforce Manager, Reenah Numaralai said, “Our Volunteer Team leaders will be trained for a duration 2 to 3 weeks spread out in the month of September through to October.
“We want to upskill them the best possible way we can through these basic trainings in getting them prepared and geared for Games time.”
Reenah added that these team leaders have already been assigned to each of the 18 functional areas within GOC.
“These team leaders have spread out over all 18 functional areas within the organisation and will take lead in organising and ensuring that all general volunteers are trained generally and in specific skilled areas before Games time. They will be the ones to ensure that all general volunteers recruited receives all the trainings required of them before the start of the Games.”
Reenah meanwhile added that updates on when general volunteers will start training will be provided later on in the month.
