The 2023 Pacific Games Organizing Committee (GOC) has receiving more than 1000 volunteer applications inside the last 10 days.

Since the roll out of the Games Volunteer program and applications made available to the public on April 15, it has generated widespread interest both in Honiara, the provinces and throughout the Pacific region.

Honiara residents have been turning up in huge numbers to enquire and apply to become Volunteers at this year’s Games.

As of this morning (April 26th), the total number of applications received by the GOC’s Workforce Centre stands at 1306 and counting.

“Since April 15, we have received a total of 1,306 volunteer applications, at an average of 200 new applicants every day.

“Applications received were either submitted online or hand delivered here at the Workforce Centre. All applications have been from residents within Honiara,” GOC Volunteer Supervisor, Donisan Kelly said.

Kelly said the similar application numbers are expected in again this week.

“We expect these numbers to increase extensively within the coming days.”

Volunteer applications remain open the next two weeks with those interested encouraged to apply for a variety of Games times roles, supporting the delivery of this year’s historical Sol2023 Pacific Games.

These volunteer roles include; Accommodation, Accreditation, Anti-Doping, Athletes Village, Broadcast, Catering, Ceremonies & Culture, Logistics, Press Operations & Media, Spectator Services, Sports, Team Support, Technology, Ticketing, Transport, Venue Operations, VIP & Protocol and Volunteer Services.

Applications can be downloaded online via the Sol2023 Official Website (www.sol2023.com.sb) and collected at the GOC’s Workforce Centre at Lunga, East Honiara.

Applications close May 15, 2023.
